Michael Dell wrote a partially autobiographical book called “Direct from Dell: Strategies That Revolutionized an Industry.” The book describes how Dell turned an original $1,000 investment into a mega-company now estimated to be worth upwards of $100 billion. As Dell Computer Corporation expanded into other product markets the name was changed to Dell, Inc. and now they manufacture other electronic products such as entertainment systems and the like.
In 2004 Dell left his post as CEO of Dell Inc., but retains his position as Chairman of the Board. With his wife Susan Michael Dell has established the “Michael and Susan Dell Foundation” which is a philanthropic organization focusing on improving the lives of children in the U.S. and the rest of the world.
