Kenneth C. Griffin (born October 15, 1968 in Daytona Beach, Fl.) serves as an American hedge fund manager. He founded Citadel Investment Group, a Chicago based investment firm, and functions as the President and CEO. The Citadel group of hedge funds ranks among the largest and most successful hedge funds in the world, and Kenneth Griffin has earned several billion dollars during his tenure at the company.

Early Life
Kenneth Griffin was the son of a building-supplies executive. Griffin grew up in Boca Raton, Fl. and during high school he worked debugging computers for International Business Machines Corp (IBM). He graduated from Harvard in just three years, with an honors degree in economics. He then moved to Chicago where Frank Meyer gave him an office at Glenwood and 1 million dollars to manage. A year later, at the age of 22, he founded Citadel.
Frank Meyer, is a former head of Glenwood Capital Investments LLC, a company that farms out money to hedge funds. He has known Griffin for more than two decades and said that ‘Kenneth Griffin was constantly comparing himself to the biggest players on Wall Street,’ ‘He wanted to create his own legacy in the financial world.’
