Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, began at the Lego Group in 2001. Three years he became the company’s CEO and immediately realized that various specific leadership approaches were needed for the company. He transformed the over three-quarter-of-a-century company into one that had a solid financial footing, enjoying further development, while opening it up to new ideas from its users. Knudstorp points out that he realized the power of customer involvement and participation in 2005 when the Lego Group began bringing in a few enthusiastic fans into product development and he began meeting with the company’s adult fans too. It was then that the entire company began encouraging its fans to interact with the company and suggest product ideas and today the designers comprise around 120,000 volunteers who are accessible outside of the company. This has all been from Knudstorp’s influence.
