44-year-old David Filo was raised in Louisiana but spent the first six years of his life in Wisconsin. He holds a BS in Computer Engineering and earned a Dean’s Honor Scholarship from Tulane University. As well, he has an MSc from Stanford University. While at Stanford, Filo met Jerry Yang, who became his partner in co-finding the Yahoo! search engine which first had its early stages in 1994 as “a way to keep track of [Filo and Yang’s] personal interests on the Internet.” Today, David Filo is married to Angela Buenning who is a photographer and teacher. They have a daughter who is also a teacher.
