Born in 1912 in Cedar Creek Cass, Nebraska, Donald William Nyrop was the Administrator of the head of the US Administrator of Civil Aeronautics and the Chairman of the US Civil Aeronautics Board during the presidency of Harry S. Truman in the 1950s.
In 1954 Nyrop moved with his family to Edina, Minnesota where he was the president, CEO and chairman of the board of Northwest Airlines until 1976.
Nyrop graduated from Doane College in Nebraska in 1934 with a degree in history, and got a law degree from the George Washington University while he worked as an auditor for the General Accounting Office. Donald Nyrop died in 2010 at the age of 98.
