Larry Page and Sergey Brin co-founded Google in 1998 with their own limited resources and that of friends and relatives. In 2001 the company had over 200 employees. At this juncture they appointed a CEO to run the company, Dr. Eric Schmidt. In 2004 Google went public, but the two founders are still highly involved in the daily running of Google.
