Jean-Paul Agon, CEO and Chairman of L’Oréal, has had an interesting career with the firm, that has “always led to tangible results.” His experience is in a variety of different industries, spanning many responsibilities, and, through this, he has developed his leadership skills and a core understanding of how L’Oréal runs, through an “international approach and a global vision of major challenges ahead.” He joined the company in 1978 as product manager for the Consumer Products division in France; moved on to GM of L’Oréal Greece, where he turned around a challenging situation and laid the foundations for a solid business. Other positions he has held in the company include: GM of L’Oréal Paris (where he was head of major developments including Studio Line, Plénitude and Elsève); International Managing Director for Biotherm; MD of L’Oréal Germany; starting the company’s Asia Zone at a time when there was a huge economic crisis going on. In 2001 he became President of L’Oréal USA and has held the position of CEO of the entire company since 2006.
