Jeffrey Preston Bezos founded Amazon.com in 1994. Today he is the company’s president, chairman and CEO. It was on a cross-country New York to Seattle drive that Bezos wrote up his business plan for the company, which he thereafter built from his garage. Under his helm, Amazon has come a long way since it turned Bezos into “one of the most prominent internet businessmen and a billionaire.” He owns 20% of Amazon’s stock but gives up the right to its stock options. Shares of company escalated 55 percent in 2011, bumping Bezos’ net worth by $6.5bn. Bezos is known for his attention to details in all his business transactions. He was described by Portfolio.com, as “at once a happy-go-lucky mogul and a detailed micromanager.”
