John D. Nichols was the CEO of Illino is Tool Works Inc. from 1982 to 1995.  Illinois Tool Works Inc. is a worldwide manufacturer of engineered products and equipment.  He joined the team there in 1980. Nichols implemented many important changes in ITW, including the acquisition of 27 companies in related product lines in the 1980s alone.  Before his tenure, ITW had only purchased three firms in the history of the company. From 2002 until 2005, Mr. Nichols was the President and CEO of Marmon Holdings, Inc. which is an international association that includes over 125 manufacturing and service businesses.  He has now been a member of the board of directors of the Hyatt Hotels Corporation since December 2006.
