John Stumpf was appointed Chairman for Wells Fargo & Company in the beginning of 2010 and its CEO around three years earlier. He was also elected to the company’s Board of Directors and is its President. He has been with the firm for more than three decades, having started there in 1982 in the loan administration department. He soon moved on to executive roles including: senior VP and chief credit officer for Norwest Bank, N.A., Minneapolis. When the two companies merged, it was Stumpf who became head of the Southwestern Banking Group thereafter, head of the new Western Banking Group He also led the integration of Wells Fargo’s acquisition of the $23 billion First Security Corporation, and was named Group EVP of Community Banking.
