Jon M. Huntsman was born in Idaho in 1937 and received his BA from the University of Pennsylvania and his MBA from the University of Southern California. Huntsman began his career at Olson Brothers, a Los Angeles based egg producing company. Huntsman rose through the ranks there, until he became Vice President of Operations. He was a key player in the development of the plastic egg carton. In 1967 he became President of Dolco Packaging Corporation, a joint venture with the Olson Brothers and Dow Chemical Company.
In 1970 Huntsman left Dolco and formed his own company with his brother Blaine, the Huntsman Container Corporation. In 1974 the company created the “clamshell” container for McDonald’s Big Mac, plus they also developed a host of other popular products. In 1982 Huntsman founded Huntsman Chemical. As the CEO and Chairman he was able to build the business into the multi-billion dollar company which in 1994 became the Huntsman Corporation.
