- Kip Tindell: The Container Store
- Kip Tindell
In 1978, The Container Store opened a small, 1,600 square foot retail space in Dallas, offering a range of products to help customers “simplify their lives,” via storage and organization – somewhat unconventional products that could not be found anywhere else. These included: wire drawers, mailboxes and popcorn tins, burger baskets, milk crates and more. Initially people didn’t think a store that sold empty boxes would actually make it. But today it boasts locations throughout the country, with stores of an average 25,000 square feet offering 10,000+ products for space- and time-savers. The store layout is categorized into categories like: Closet, Kitchen, Office and Laundry.
