Lief D. Rosenblatt: Satellite Asset Management

Lief D. Rosenblatt, Gabe Nechamkin and Mark Sonnino, who worked together at Soros Fund Management LP in New York for 11 years, founded Satellite Asset Management in 1999. Satellite Asset Management, L.P. was known as a privately owned hedge fund sponsor. The firm also provided investment advisory services to its clients. It provided its services to pooled investment vehicles. The firm invested in the public equity and fixed income markets in the United States. It made its investments in distressed debt and socks; and in special situations. The firm retained teams that traded bonds and loans and invested in companies going through situations such as takeovers. It typically used a merger arbitrage strategy to make its investments. Satellite Asset Management was based in New York, N. Y. with a second office in London, England.

Satellite Asset Management LP’s 3 major funds were Satellite Overseas Fund Ltd., Satellite Fund II LP and Satellite Credit Opportunities Ltd. Satellite oversaw about $7 billion for clients at the end of 2007.

Lief D. Rosenblatt was forced to close Satellite Asset Management LP in May 2009 due to the economic crisis.
