Dutch businessman Marc Bolland, CEO of Marks and Spencer Group PLC, was noted in Wikipedia as being “one of the most influential people in business in 2010.” Prior to joining M&S, he held top executive positions at both Heineken and Morrisons. Once joining the successful retailing chain in 2010, Bolland set out a plan to develop the corporation into a huge, global multi-channel retailer which he did successfully. In the last quarter of 2011, he established a new look for the company’s UK stores, with plans to extend this to the entire UK estate by the middle of next year. At the end of last year Bolland brought M&S back to France after it stopped doing business there a decade ago. He put the store on the Champs Elysees, making quite a statement and, at the same time, launched a new website in French to serve the entire country.
