O. Andreas HalvorsenO. Andreas Halvorsen is one of the founding partners of Viking Global Investors LP and now serves as its CIO (Chief Investment Officer). Viking was founded in 1999 and is based in Greenwich, Connecticut. Viking manages two hedge funds which invest in equities worldwide.

Early life

Before to moving to the United States, Mr. Halvorsen graduated from the Norwegian Naval Academy and served as a platoon commander in the Norwegian SEAL Team.
Mr. Halvorsen earned his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1990. He finished Williams College in 1986. He is a trustee for the Greenwich Academy and is on the Williams College Committee for Special Strategies which advises the board of trustees on selection of fund managers for the Academy’s endowment.
Career

O. Andreas Halvorsen is a protégé of hedge fund pioneer Julian Robertson, having worked for seven years at Tiger Management. Mr. Halvorsen was a senior managing director and the director of equities at Tiger Management. In addition, he also worked as an investment banker in the corporate finance and merger departments of Morgan Stanley.
Mr. Halvorsen lives with his wife, Diane, and their three children in Darien, Connecticut.
