Richard Pratt was a well know Australian businessman and chairman of the privately-owned company Visy Industries. He was considered to be one of the wealthiest people in Australia, with a personal fortune before his death in 2009 valued at $5.48 billion. While building his plants across Australia, the United States, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in cardboard boxes, packaging and waste paper recycling, he was also known for his public service. He was foundation chancellor of Swinburne University of Technology, president of the Victorian Arts Centre Trust and Chairman of the Board of Management of the Mental Health Research Institute of Victoria. Through the Pratt Foundation, he and his family donated as much as $10 million each year.
