Much of what comprises US Foods today, actually originated in the 19th century. Headquartered in Illinois, it became known as U.S. Foodservice in 1993. Today, the company is proud to offer over 350,000 national brand products (along with its own items), including fresh meats, produce, prepared and frozen foods. Around 25,000 individuals are employed throughout 60 areas in America, serving approximately a quarter of a million customers, which include: healthcare, hospitality bodies, multi-unit restaurants, government, educational institutions and more. The company is co-owned by funds managed by Clayton, Dubilier & Rice Inc. and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co.
