The son of a Broadway stage-hand and a costume designer, William C Weldon was born in Brooklyn in 1948. After earning a BA in Biology at Quinnipiac University in 1971, Weldon went to work for Johnson & Johnson, where he has remained for his entire professional life. When Weldon first joined J&J he worked as a sales representative for the McNeil Pharmaceutical Division, and then went on to become the boss at J&J’s Ethicon Endo-Surgery business in 1992. In 2002 Weldon became J&J’s CEO, engineering some of the biggest acquisitions in J&J’s history.
