Stephen F. Mandel Jr.’s Lone Pine had recent activity includes a new stake in Longtop Financial Technologies (LFT) an also a new position in Live Nation Entertainment (LYV).

For 2009, Lone Pine’s principle fund Lone Cypress was up 17.7%. Additionally, their Lone Kauri also went up 12.1%, Lone Cascade up 44.4%, and Lone Dragon Pine also up 72.9. Stephen F. Mandel Jr.’s hedge fund, is also bullish on education plays.

Lone Pine’s largest exposure is certainly in the information technology sector, followed by consumer discretionary and financials. The most interesting change to Mandel’s portfolio was the addition of a new position in Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTSH) that they made their third largest holding. Their new stake in DaVita (DVA) was also large.

Among positions they already owned, they added heavily to their postiions in Yum Brands (YUM), New Oriental Education (EDU), Autodesk (ADSK), Mead Johnson Nutrition (MJN), and Pactiv (PTV).
